- The English Score is based on the English Test.
- Multiple choice grammar questions
- The Essay Score is based on the OPTIONAL Writing Test
- The Writing Test is the 30-minute essay.
- Scale is 1 – 6 by two different graders, giving a score of 2
– 12.
- Even though the Writing is “optional,” many good schools
require students to take it.
- TIP: Check the requirements
of your schools BEFORE you register and take the ACT or, to be safe, automatically
sign up for the writing

- If you don’t get the score you need, review and retake the test
in May or June
- DO NOT WAIT until the fall of your senior year! This will ADD stress!

- Take the Knowsys class at Coppell High School early
- Spring of Sophomore year, summer before Junior year, fall of Junior
year
- Then RETAKE the class immediately before your test

- Take the PSAT in your Sophomore year (October)
- Get a 180 or higher
- Prepare for the PSAT
- The 11th grade October PSAT is the ONLY PSAT that counts for
National Merit
