Your English and Writing Results
  • The English Score is based on the English Test.
    • Multiple choice grammar questions

  • The Essay Score is based on the OPTIONAL Writing Test
    • The Writing Test is the 30-minute essay.
    • Scale is 1 – 6 by two different graders, giving a score of 2 – 12.
    • Even though the Writing is “optional,” many good schools require students to take it.
    • TIP:  Check the requirements of your schools BEFORE you register and take the ACT or, to be safe, automatically sign up for the writing

  • The Writing Score is a combination of
    • English Test score
    • Essay Score
